Son Bou beach is situated in the south of the island; it is a firm favourite with families. It is the longest beach in Menorca – nearly 3km of pale golden sand, making it ideal for sun bathing and water sports. Son Costa is a spacious house completely refurbished with the charm of the typical Menorcan old country noble houses and at the same time the comfort of a new and modern dwelling with a pool. It has beautiful and wide views of the Menorcan countryside with its “tancas” (areas closed with walls made of dry stone) and the sea at the background. It is very quiet due to the 250 acres surrounding the house with no buildings around and you can also enjoy country walks. It can sleep 11 people comfortably and more beds can be installed in case it is necessary. There are two double beds I the two bedrooms on the ground floor. There are spacious terraces around the house with a wooden pergola and exterior furniture where you can have your meals, read, have a chat or simply enjoy the landscape and the quiet… From the terrace there is access to the pool area. Built around the old Ihalor hill, from where it takes its name, Alaior was founded by King James II of Mallorca in the year 1304. The Santa Eulalia Parrish, today’s local patron saint, already existed before. The church of Eulalia, which stands above the town, is the first image one gets upon arriving into Alaior. The main structure of the building was rebuilt in the 17th century and inspired by Baroque, within the interior of the church you can view the Rosario Alter (Capilla del Rosario) and the San Pedro arches. Leading away from the church you have the Munt l’Angel Park, an elevated viewing point and quite a good perch to view the town and surrounding area. Other buildings of interest include Sa Lluna patio, an old Franciscan cloister, the Can Salort Palace, the Ermita de Sant Pere and its tree lined park, the windmills of D’en John Mill and D’en Pujol Mill, the water wells and the elegantly preserved house fronts.

If you are a keen golfer you are not overlooked with a 15-hole course (slowly being extended to 18) situated in the beautiful countryside 20 mins drive away. Horse riding, pony trekking and donkey safaris are also available at various establishments throughout the island. This traditional Menorcan farmhouse was beautifully restored in 2009 and is furnished exquisitely, situated a few minutes drive away from the beach of Son Bou and the urbanizations of Torresolí Nou, Son Bou & San Jaime and 10 minutes from the village of Alayor. The house is on two floors and occupies 550m2 divided into 8 double bedrooms each with an en-suite bathroom or shower room and fitted wardrobes. There is a sitting room on both floors, a lovely modern kitchen leading into an ample dining area with seating for 16 and a beautiful, huge entrance hall with traditional arches in Marés (local limestone blocks), glassed in to make another very comfortable sitting area. The salt water swimming pool, gardens and grounds are regularly maintained by the owner’s farm hand. Finca Sa Caleta is near the wonderful long beach of Son Bou (3km of golden sands and clear sea) where you can hire loungers, sun shades, pedaloes or have a go on the sausage’ off the beach. There is a water park and a maze along with all sorts of bars and restaurants.There is a chemist in the resort, shops include everything from supermarkets for groceries and essentials to shops with English newspapers, books, postcards, gifts, perfumes and local produce. In the other direction you can be in Alayor within 10 minutes in the car. This traditional Menorcan village with it´s quaint cobbled back streets has a true Menorcan feel about it. Here you will find banks, street cafes, a pretty square where the locals sit out taking the cool’ in the evenings and some nice local cuisine restaurants. There is a municipal Tennis club and a nearby riding stable. Close to Alayor and Son Bou you will be able to visit a number of interesting ruins and pre-historic remains that really are worth visiting.

The location of the villa: Our villa is set amongst other luxurious properties in the resort of St Jaime, overlooking the Son Bou Beach. It has generous grounds, gardens, patios and terraces. We have many guests who return to the villa year after year who say that it is both stunning to look at and stunning to look from – the villa has panoramic sea views as well as views of the nearby countryside. The lovely sandy beach of Son Bou is two miles long. The resort of St Jaime is highly suitable for families with children and has lots of amenities to suit everyone. There are watersports at the beach, lovely shops to browse and lots of restaurants and bars. There are activities for young and older children. The villa is only a 10 minute stroll to the beach, shops and restaurants and Menorca is such a beautiful place that many of our guests choose to hire a car so that they can visit the local towns, the beautiful countryside and some of the other beaches. The villa is 20 minutes from the airport.

The villa: The villa has all the amenities you will need to make your holiday a complete success so that it will be relaxing, comfortable and memorable. There is a front terrace with panoramic sea and country views – great for family meals and the odd glass of wine! This terrace has a built in BBQ. There is a pool and jacuzzi patio and a further terrace which is enclosed by wall and gates. It is always possible to find shade on the various patios and terraces at different times of day. The large garden has fruit trees, palm trees and lots of flowering shrubs. The rooms in the villa are spacious and in keeping with the amount of space needed for 10 people sharing. There are also different parts of the villa to go if you need to have your own space during your holiday – various sanctuaries to find peace and quiet.

The villa is fully equipped: The kitchen has everything that you would need to make a full family meal. There is a high chair available and two cots. There is Sky TV with DVD and video. There are plenty of sun loungers and patio chairs and tables. Towels and sheets are provided. The villa is managed by a company a short walk away in St Jaime and accessible to guests should they need help with any of the equipment . Attention to detail has been given to the furnishings and style of the villa which is a blend of classic and modern. The property is located on a tranquil residential avenue and has fantastic views from its upper two floors The lower ground floor area has no sea views, but has an incredibly spacious pool and poolside area with a unique covered BBQ deck. The well-known and popular resort of Cala ‘n Porter is on the south coast and offers turquoise blue waters that glisten in a narrow cove backed by a wide sandy beach. On one side, the untouched limestone cliffs are the home to seabirds. On the other side of the cove there are a number of homes perched precariously on the cliff-face. A unique bar and nightclub, Covas den Xoroi, named after Xoroi, a legendary Berber pirate who abducted a local girl and kept her in his cave, is set in a cave high up in the cliffs. The resort has a wealth of bars and restaurants including some on the beach. A weekly market is held in the square to compliment the choice from the varied shops within the resort. A little road train runs around the resort through the day, and down to the beach. Besides the Covas den Xoroi nightclub, family entertainment can be found most evenings in local hotel, which are open to all.
